"Hey, listen up. I ain't no kid, and I ain't some old geezer either. I'm just me. I'm Jay- nice ta meet ya, pally! Unless yer on some other group... Then I'd have ta hurt ya." Name:
Jay, Triple J,
5'9 , 150 lbsNationality:
#B22222 Fire brick
#03868B Turquoise 4
Loud | Possibly Annoying | Approaching | Loyal | Naive
The first thing you should know about Jay: he'll never let you sleep. He's always going to make people deal with his stream of consciousness that he isn't afraid to let out, even if he knows the other person isn't listening. Without a doubt he attempts to make as many 'friends' as he can, and these can either succeed or fail, and if it were the latter, he can just say that he'll try again later.
He's persistent, stubborn, and will stick to his beliefs unless something big happens to prove him otherwise. He's very full of himself to the point that he's almost gullible, and therefore easy to trick at times. He has a relatively short fuse and can lash out at virtually anyone when he is angered.
Despite this, he is exceedingly loyal to those close to him as well as the authority figures, to whom he can be equally submissive to. He follows orders but he makes sure to make his goal flexible. After all, after he's done with the mission, who's to say he can't explore a bit on the way back to HQ?Powers:
MAIN: Ability to read minds, AND cause slight pain and discomfort by either implanting very graphic images or messing with the nerves through the skin. However this is only limited to if Jay has physical contact with the person, and he can only read about three to five minds every six or so hours, otherwise he may get an intense headache and faint from the overload of information or over exertion. Also, his strength is slightly higher than a normal human's, however not as high as other RO Chromatics. Background:
SUB: Ability to use electricity, just short, non-lethal bursts that are enough to stun and sting but keep the victim alive and conscious. There isn't much of a limit to this ability, but it can still make Jay tired from time to time.
Being the youngest of three siblings, children of a scholar and a high-paid man, Jay had a relatively balanced life. The genetic code of Chromatism only got passed onto him from his father, and his older sister and brother were able to live normally without it. Jay lived a comfortable life until he turned ten when he began to grow conscious of the color of his hair and eyes, and he knew that he was different and would never be treated the same as everyone else. Some took it well, others... were against it.
When he turned thirteen, his mother died. Tragic, yes, but he had to move on.
He had never tried to manifest his powers until then because he exerted great effort in trying to appear normal. But when he was cornered by a bunch of young non-colorists, he thought they weren't there to harm him. That is, until they grabbed his arm and he could suddenly hear their thoughts, and he felt a surge of electricity coursing underneath his skin before he found the one who grabbed him to be immobilized on the ground. The others ran.
After the stunt, his mentality changed. No longer was he some kid who was different and trying to fit in. He accepted the fact that he was different, that he was better than normal human beings. For a while he basked in the feeling of power, left highschool and his beloved track team, turned into a delinquent, and even left home after his father had shut him out for having abused the abilities of the virus.
Eventually, though, as he roamed the streets in isolation, he for once craved for someone to talk to or relate to without having to conflict with a non-colorist (he still missed his siblings though, just a bit, even if they teased him sometimes). He found Chromatica before long, and he actually wondered why his father had avoided the place before he had gotten married. He heard of it, but probably half the time he only understood that it was to be avoided. All the more reason to stay where there were people to relate to.
After staying there a while, he noticed the tensions in the air, the brawling he would occasionally witness. There was one fight he decided to butt into, and one thing led to another and he found himself in the RO faction with scratches and bruises and a couple of broken ribs, but a smile stuck itself on his face.
It was another page in the story of his stupid life, and he knew it was going to be an exciting one.Role within Faction
He is an extractor of information, using both his mind-reading abilities and electricity together with the use of his yo-yo (mediator of electricity from a distance when thrown).Role outside of Faction
During the day he has a part time job as a store clerk at some sports shop- not that he minds waking up a bit early for it. He spends his time in there advertising certain products because he knows all of them from heart from ogling over them all day when there aren't a lot of people coming by to check out their equipment. Despite how loud he is, the store finds that he can only say positive things about their products and in fact he sells them rather effectively. His shift ends in the late afternoon, which is more than enough to roam around a bit and relax before heading to HQ. Other things
-Really enjoys barbeque/any other meal that involves a large portion of meat
-He has two yo-yos, one like the one seen here, and the other he keeps in his pouch with a red outer ring and a turquoise center. He only brings out the second when he's desperate, even though they don't do him much good in terms of dealing damage.
-Has basic fighting skills mainly for self defense
-Bows down to authority easily despite his attitude
-Those images he'll plant in people's heads can vary from being the most ridiculous things he can think of or extremely graphic torture that will induce the victim to give up information.
-secretly envies the Chromatics with speed abilities, and attempts to keep running even after he quit track just to literally chase that dream
